Joyanna Lovelock is a Barrister-at-Law and worked as an academic lawyer. She has also been a newspaper columnist for Jamaica Times UK, where she shared her musings and observations on modern life and the big issues of the day. Her columns were published in book form in 2019 under the title Let Me Tell You Something, which went on to be a finalist in two International Independent Book Awards (2020 and 2021). In 2023, she was shortlisted for the inaugural Curae literary prize for her non-fiction story extract, which was published in The Curae anthology of the same year. Her newish-found love of opera led her to several performances at ENO and this experience persuaded her to become not just a patron but a participant in what the ENO can do for community outreach.
