Sophie Goldrick is a London-born mezzo-soprano who grew up in Sydney, Australia. She trained in acting at Theatre Nepean before completing her vocal studies at the Royal Northern College of Music. 

Sophie is a permanent member of the English National Opera chorus. Her ENO credits include Moppett (Paul Bunyan), New Ofglen (The Handmaid’s Tale) and La Suora Infirmiera (Suor Angelica), and she has covered Tisbe (La Cenerentola), Giovanna (Rigoletto) and Kate (The Pirates of Penzance) among other roles.  

Elsewhere, roles include Juno (Semele) for the Waterperry Festival, Ericlea/Pisandro (Il ritorno d’Ulisse in patria) and Diana (La Calisto) for Longborough Festival Opera, Dinah (Trouble in Tahiti) for Stage Left Project, Ruth (The Pirates of Penzance) for Merry Opera Co., Flora (La Traviata) and Kate Pinkerton (Madama Butterfly) for West Green House, and Carmen (Carmen) for Opera on Location and Focus Opera. Cover roles include Baba the Turk (The Rake’s Progress) for The Grange Festival and Pitti-Sing (The Mikado) for Scottish Opera. 

Alongside performing, Sophie produces new opera and theatre with Shadow Opera and is the proud Principal of Stagecoach Shirley, creating high-quality training and performance pathways for children across Croydon.
