Stage Technician

We are seeking an experienced Stage Technician to join our team for our 2025-2026 opera season.

Stage Technicians are an important part of the technical department at ENO. They help maintain a strong health and safety culture, support colleagues across departments, and use resources effectively to meet the creative and operational demands of ENO.

 

Contract dates: 08/09/2025-21/12/2025 and 19/01/2026- 01/03/2026

 

 

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar position
  • Experience working on load-ins and load-outs, changeovers & performances
  • Ability to create and follow cue sheets and stage plots required for performances
  • Ability to understand and interpret appropriate technical paperwork & plans
  • Knowledge of theatrical terminology
  • Drive and expertise to maintain up to date knowledge of developments with the industry
  • Ability to use hand tools and power tools, battery and mains operated
  • Basic IT skills, particularly Microsoft Office
  • Awareness of UK Health & Safety regulations
  • Excellent personal timekeeping and punctuality
  • Experience assembling and building of modular and temporary structures, including staging platforms and truss
  • Ability to use of access equipment including ladders, MEWP’s & tallescope
  • Ability to lift between 16 – 25kg
  • Ability to work long hours in an industrial environment, most of these hours will require being active and on your feet
  • A Self-motivated team player
  • Strong communication skills to ensure effective interactions at all levels across a multi-disciplinary team
  • Ability to take direction from senior staff and manage assigned jobs list
  • Ability to solve problems and use own initiative
  • Flexibility to work varied and anti-social hours within a shift-based schedule, including at weekend and public holidays where required
  • Desire to learn new skills and share knowledge with colleagues
  • Ability to work as part of a team, and independently, under minimum supervision
