Simon Bailey was born in England and has lived in Frankfurt since 2002.

His repertoire encompasses more than 100 major opera roles and 50 oratorio works, including Dr Bartolo Il Barbiere di Siviglia at La Scala, Milan.

Previously for ENO: Figaro (The Marriage of Figaro), Priest 2/Judge of the Dead (The Mask of Orpheus), Doctor Bartolo (The Barber of Seville), Colline (La bohème), Second Priest/Second Armed Man/Speaker (The Magic Flute).

Awards include: He was voted ‘Wales Singer of the Year’ in 2018 for his performance as Šiškov From the House of the Dead in Cardiff. He won first prize in the 2005 Rome International Oratorio competition.
