Abigail Sinclair is a Canadian soprano in the final year of the Opera Programme at the Royal Academy of Music. Her past roles include Königin der Nacht (Die Zauberflöte), Taumännchen (Hänsel und Gretel), Adele (Die Fledermaus/La Chauve-Souris), and Morgana (Alcina). In November she will make her role debut as Frasquita (Carmen) with Royal Academy Opera.
A passionate performer of contemporary repertoire, Abigail recently gave a recital of 20th and 21st Century music as part of the Musica da Casa Menotti series at the Festival dei Due mondi di Spoleto under the mentorship of Barbara Hannigan. In 2024, she performed Juhi Bansal’s chamber work Love, Loss and Exile, a piece she premiered in 2022, at National Sawdust in Brooklyn, NY. She has given recitals at venues across London including St. Giles, Barbican, and in March of 2023, made her Southbank Centre debut with the London Sinfonietta as the Soprano I soloist in The Fields of Sorrow for a concert commemorating the late composer, Sir Harrison Birtwistle.
Abigail is a two time recipient of the Sylva Gelber Music Foundation Awards, and is immensely grateful for the support of the Mills Williams Foundation, the Nova Scotia Talent Trust, and the Royal Academy of Music.
