British tenor, John Findon, has earned high praise for his recent performances from critics at home and abroad. His ‘glamorous tone’ (Bachtrack), ‘heroic sound’ (The Observer), and ‘imposing stage presence’ (London Unattached) combine to create what Opera Gazet describes as a ‘rare type of tenor.’

This 2025-26 season sees John make his US, house and role debut at Des Moines Metro Opera as Lenny Of Mice and Men, he will return to English National Opera as Don Jose Carmen, he will sing the title role in a tour of Peter Grimes with Opera North and will cover the same role in Deborah Warner’s production at the Royal Ballet and Opera, Covent Garden. On the concert platform John joins the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra for Tippett’s A Child of Our Time, the London Philharmonic Orchestra for Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 and the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra for Berlioz’s Requiem.

Recent operatic highlights included his house debut at Dutch National Opera jumping in as Peter Grimes, Bacchus Ariadne auf Naxos at Opéra de Rouen, Narraboth Salome at Teatro di San Carlo, Andrei Mazeppa at Grange Park Festival and at English National Opera he debuted as Steva Jenůfa and revived the role of Luke The Handmaid’s Tale. Other previous roles include, Melot (cover) Tristan und Isolde and Don Jose Carmen Glyndebourne Festival, The Fool Wozzeck Royal Ballet and Opera, and as 1st Armed Man / 2nd Priest The magic Flute at the Bayerische Staatsoper.
