Bursting with famous tunes, larger-than-life characters, audience participation and extraordinary live music, AbracadOpera! hosted by MC Grammar, gives children the chance to experience the power and excitement of opera up close in one of the UK’s largest theatres.
Through a blend of live performance and specially selected screen content, pupils will discover some of opera’s most iconic music and characters, brought to life by the Orchestra and Chorus of ENO andwell-loved ENO soloists.

Overview
AbracadOpera is designed to introduce young viewers to opera for the first time. The screening will be accompanied by some live, participatory activities and performances.
It’s a comedy-musical-drama that brings together the Chorus and Orchestra of ENO’s, Sky Kids talent and ENO Engage partner schools to journey on an epic adventure into the world of operatic music and performance, discovered through the artform’s best characters.
The Story
From flying warriors and clever tricksters to dreamers and villains, AbracadOpera! introduces audiences to some of opera’s most celebrated characters. Meet Brünnhilde, the fearless warrior from The Valkyrie, the mischievous Figaro from The Barber of Seville, the romantic Rodolfo from La bohème, and the formidable Queen of the Night from The Magic Flute. Through famous music, larger-than-life characters, and plenty of theatrical magic, this fun-filled adventure offers a lively introduction to the world of opera.
AbracadOpera!, the 45-minute family programme was originally produced by ENO and Somethin’ Else TV Studio for Sky Kids.
Singers and Creatives
Hosted by MC Grammar with performances by the award-winning Chorus and Orchestra of ENO, will be soprano Nazan Fikret, and baritone and former ENO Harewood ArtistAlex Otterburn.
Created by BAFTA-winning writer Andrew McCaldon, the production celebrates the spectacle, energy, and joy of opera through live music, performance, and participation.

Our age guidance for AbracadOpera is 6+ and we think this screening is ideal for Key Stage 2 primary students (ages 7-11).
Student tickets for AbracadOpera are free, and adult tickets are £29 each. We ask for a ratio of 1 adult per 10 students with a minimum of 2 adults per group.
