Described as having a voice that is “richly expressive and gleam[ing] at the top” (Opera Magazine) and “show-stopping” (The Observer), Henna Mun is a South Korean singer, born in Japan and raised in Canada. She is the recent winner of the 2024 John Christie Award at the Glyndebourne Festival and the first-place winner of the 2025 Clonter Award. Henna is thrilled to be joining the ENO this season as their Harewood Artist.

In the upcoming 2025/2026 season at the ENO, Henna will be making her principal debut as Josephine in HMS Pinafore, directed by Cal McCrystal.

Career Highlights

Recent engagements include Susanna in Le Nozze di Figaro (Royal College of Music), Cleopatra in Giulio Cesare (cover – Glyndebourne Festival), Gianetta in The Elixir of Love (cover – English National Opera), Hanna in The Merry Widow, Eurydice in Orpheus in the Underworld, Maturina in Don Giovanni Tenorio, La Principessa in La bella dormente nel bosco, Jenny Lind in Barnum’s Bird (Royal College of Music), and Ilia in Idomeneo (Brunswick Vocal Arts).

Upcoming engagements include originating the role of Phyllis in the world premiere of The Railway Children (Mark-Anthony Turnage) next year, as part of the Glyndebourne Autumn season and at Queen Elizabeth Hall (Southbank Centre). Henna will also return to Glyndebourne this summer, covering the role of Michal in Barrie Kosky’s production of Saul.

Henna made her Glyndebourne Festival debut in 2024 and was also a Jerwood Young Artist.

In the summer of 2023, she participated in the Atelier Lyrique Programme at the Verbier Festival in Switzerland.

Henna was a guest artist at the 2024 BST Hyde Park concert in London with Maestro Andrea Bocelli. She also performed with Sumi Jo at the Tokyo Metropolitan Theatre with the Tokyo Universal Philharmony Orchestra in 2022.

Henna completed her time at the International Opera Studio at the Royal College of Music in London this year. She is currently under the tutelage of Mary Nelson. She completed her master’s degree at the RCM and her bachelor’s degree at McGill University in Montreal, Canada, under the tutelage of Dominique Labelle.
